About the NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government program that provides funding and support to people with permanent and significant disabilities. It is designed to help participants achieve their goals, build independence, and participate in community life.

The NDIS is managed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). It provides individually tailored funding plans rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, meaning each participant receives support specific to their situation.

To be eligible for NDIS you generally need to:

  • Be under 65 years of age at the time of applying
  • Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder
  • Have a permanent disability that significantly affects your ability to participate in everyday activities

Not sure if you qualify? Our bilingual team can walk you through the eligibility criteria and help you prepare your application — in Mandarin, Cantonese, or English. Call us on 1800 HAPPY11800 427 791.

If you have an approved NDIS plan, most of our disability support services are funded directly through your NDIS budget — so there is typically no out-of-pocket cost for participants for NDIS-funded services.

Our team can explain exactly what is covered under your specific plan categories (Core Supports, Capacity Building, etc.) and help you make the most of your funding.

Yes. We take your preferences very seriously and aim to match you with support workers who suit your personality, communication style, and care needs. If you prefer a Mandarin or Cantonese speaking worker, we will do our best to accommodate that.

We also welcome feedback — if a match is not working well, we will work with you to find a better fit.

Home Care Packages

A Home Care Package (HCP) is a government-funded package of services that helps older Australians remain living at home for longer. There are four package levels:

  • Level 1 — Basic care needs
  • Level 2 — Low-level care needs
  • Level 3 — Intermediate care needs
  • Level 4 — High-level care needs

Services can include personal care, meal preparation, cleaning, transport, nursing, social support, and more.

The process involves three key steps:

  1. Register with My Aged Care — call 1800 200 422 or visit myagedcare.gov.au. Our team can assist you in Chinese.
  2. ACAT Assessment — an Aged Care Assessment Team will visit your home to assess your needs and determine the appropriate package level.
  3. Choose your provider — once a package is assigned, contact us and we will handle the rest, building your care plan and matching you with the right support workers.

Supported Living & Respite

SIL stands for Supported Independent Living. It is a type of NDIS-funded housing where participants live in a shared home with 24-hour on-site support from qualified staff. It is different from specialist disability accommodation (SDA) — SIL covers the cost of the support workers, not the property itself.

Our SIL homes are in the North Rocks area of Sydney and accommodate 2–7 residents in a warm, house-style environment. Our staff speak Mandarin and Cantonese.

Respite care is temporary support that gives family carers a break from their caring role. It can range from a few hours per week to overnight stays, weekend cover, or short-term residential respite lasting several weeks.

Respite care can be funded through NDIS Core Supports (for NDIS participants) or Home Care Package funding (for older Australians). It is also available through the Carer Gateway program for eligible carers.
